Awards earned by the Human Powered Vehicle Operators of Ottawa

• We won our first award at The Irish Society St. Patrick Day Parade: March 15 2003. Here's a pic of Mike's butt high up on a tallbike, on the Irish Society web page. Here's a description of what happenned and what led up to it .

• July 11th, 2004, noon: We won first prize in this year's Ottawa Pride parade! That's the second award we have earned. Here is the parade route map. Richard took a few photos before and after the parade, but was too busy managing chain mail on a chopper to take any during... Trevyn's friend Andrew also took photos (His full set are here.) Jenn Farr took some awesome pics too! Set 1, Set 2. There was also an appearance by the city of Gatineau's VeloBus.

• November 13, 2004, 11:00: We won the Best Novelty prize in the Ottawa Help Sanda Toy Parade organized by the Ottawa Firefighers. HPVOoO has had entries in 2002 and 2003 as well. Brian Wheeler took a few photos . Vic took pics . Brent from Waterloo also took some photos . ...and here are Mark's pics! . Hey, check this out, so did Jenn !

• March 12 2005, 11:00: We won another award, this time for Best of All Other Entries at The Irish Society St. Patrick Day Parade. At least 2 dozen people came and joined us on their weird human powered contraptions decked out in green. The parade started at Elgin/Laurier and finished at Lansdowne Park. Vic , Richard , Juergen , Charles and John Dowding took photos. Richard also took photos of some of the preparations. There is a mirror of the CBC radio interview here in OGG and MP3 formats.

• November 27, 2005: Rockland christmas "Parade of Lights" We won "3rd prize", a $50 cheque, which was donated to the Rockland Help Centre. As usual, Richard took photos .

• 2007-11-17: Ottawa Santa Claus Parade: We again won "Best Novelty". Juergen Weichert took photos. Blackburn Pete took photos. Richard Guy Briggs took photos.

• 2008-11-29: Orleans Santa's Parade of Lights 2008: We won "Best Novelty"! Richard took photos. Matt got to keep the trophy for the year.

• 2009-11-28: Orleans Santa's Parade of Lights 2009: We won "Best Novelty"! Richard took photos. Brian also posted on the catrike forum, his blog and took photos. Brian received the trophy and plaque and Matt will keep the trophy again this year.

• 2010-11-27: Orleans Santa's Parade of Lights 2010: We won "Best Novelty"! Brian and Richard were in attendance to receive the award. BikeBoy999's awards photos. Richard received the trophy and plaque. Richard took photos and video at the parade.
